Cedros Design District Tour Stops
Stop 1:
We will begin our tour right here at our bike and surf shop in Solana Beach. From here, we will enjoy a quick walk to Gelato 101 for a beverage or Gelato of your choosing. On our way, we will pass by The Lomas Brand. This cute boutique clothing company that is locally owned and operated by the nicest family. After the tour feel free to stop by for 10% off your purchase!
Once we are hydrated and caffeinated, we will officially start our walking tour of The South Cedros Design District in Solana Beach. We will teach you all about the rich history of Solana Beach. From its first development projects, to Bing Crosby’s tenure and influence in the early 1900’s as he created the Del Mar Thoroughbred race track. We will see the unique Quonset huts that are reminiscent of WWII. There are numerous shops that now utilize these unique buildings.
Before we explore the David Alan Collection, we will walk past the world famous Belly Up Tavern, established in 1974. This has been a local hotspot for live music since the 1970’s and will have a marquee posting their upcoming shows! Situated in WWII era quonset huts, this small and intimate venue highlights local and more far reaching bands year round.
Stop 2:
We will make our first stop on the tour at the David Alan Collection. We call the pieces here "art with a purpose." The DAC holds San Diego's largest selection of custom wood slab tables, reclaimed wood furniture, petrified wood, modern furniture, & rare art & artifacts. We will get a mini presentation from their staff (or David Alan himself!) about their shop, history, and why they do what they do. With three levels, this is a must-see for everyone during and after the tour.
Stop 3:
After David Alan, we will cross over and explore the Madison Gallery. We will pass the Art Alley right next to the famous Wonder Woman statue along the way. The Madison Gallery was founded in 2001 and features contemporary artists that are emerging, mid-career, and established artists while maintaining a high standard for the contemporary art being exhibited. Lorna York, Curator, will be able to tell us everything we need to know about their current featured artists. They can answer any questions we may have about the currently displayed pieces.
Stop 4:
The Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery is our next stop. Chang is most well known for his contributions to ocean photography. With 37 covers for Surfing Magazine, it is no secret that Aaron Change is one of the best for capturing the raw and beautiful nature of our oceans, as well as the harmony that can be reached between wave and surfer. Voted best San Diego Artist in 2022, Aaron’s long career is still growing.
"Ending" the Cedros Design District Tour
Once we complete our four main stops, we encourage everyone to backtrack at their own leisure. The end of the tour is just the beginning for you to explore the Cedros Design District. If there is a space we didn’t highlight, or you would like to revisit one of our stops, we encourage you to do so! There is so much to do and see along this beautiful part of Solana Beach that there is simply not enough time in the day to see everything.
We are also able to customize our tours to each group. If there is something else you would like to see while on our tour, please let us know in advance and we will do everything in our power to accommodate.

The walking tour of the Cedros Design District will last approximately 1.5 hours, including stops at various art galleries, photography studios, and design studios. We will begin the tour at Lofty Coffee or Gelato 101 for a complementary drink or snack of your choosing, included in the price of the tour!

The Cedros Design District Walking Tour will commence at our bike/surf shop. Our address is 243 North Highway 101, Suite #5 in Solana Beach 92075. Parking information will be sent over at the time of booking for all of our rental and tour offerings.
$50 per person, kids under 10 are free!
If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled tour will not be eligible for a refund.
The tour can take place rain or shine. We will honor cancellations and refund in full on the day of due to downpours. In the event of severe weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to reschedule the Cedros Design District Tour or provide a refund.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. We will provide a bottle of water, purchase coffee for you at stop number 1, and provide sunscreen for those hot sunny Summer San Diego days!
