Our EBike Rental Fleet
Rad City
The Rad City is our cruiser style electric bike rental. It has bent-in handlebars for a relaxed rider position. This comfortable bike comes in one size and fits 4’9” to 5’10”. We usually recommend this electric bike as a rental option for people on the shorter side. If you’d like to sit in an upright position with more traditional wheels (26”) this bike will probably feel like what you’re used to riding with the exception of the added motor that will have you zipping along at 20 mph if you choose. The bike has a throttle and 5 pedal assist modes so if you’d like to go slower just keep it in pedal assist 1 and 2. For quicker speeds you can shift into modes 3-5.

Electra Townie Go
Electra Townie Go by Trek is the ultimate comfort pedal assist ebike for those looking for a smooth and easy bike ride. We carry a mix of their step over and step thru frames as well as some mid-drive and rear drive models. If your ideal electric bike rental in Solana Beach is comfortable, light, and easy to ride then this is your bike. This bike doesn’t come with a throttle to complicate things; just easy pedal assist options to motor all over town. This is the lightest bike in our fleet by 10 lbs and rides more like a traditional bicycle. They also have a great storage basket on the front to take everything you need on your bike ride through San Diego.

Rad Mini
Rad Power's Rad Mini is a compact electric bike that can fold for transport. The Mini sports smaller 20 inch wheels with 3 inch wide tires for added stability. Fits riders down to 4’10. This is a great bike for smaller riders and comes with both a throttle and pedal assist at your disposal. The foldability of this ebike rental can also allow you to put it into the trunk of your car for traveling. We carry different models of ebikes for our rentals to offer the best option for each client wanting a bike rental in San Diego.

Rad Runner
Rad Power’s Rad Runner is our most popular electric bike rental. The bike is easy and stable with wider tires and a low center of gravity. It comes in a step thru frame and fits 4’10 up to 6’2. This is our go to rental for more novice riders, for kids, and even the general renter as it’s just fun to ride. The best part of this electric bike rental is the functionality; this bike rental will accommodate small passengers, children, and babies in our child’s seat. Our surfboard racks also fit on these bikes for all you bike and surf renters coming to enjoy everything that San Diego has to offer!

Rad Wagon
The Rad Wagon is a cargo ebike built strong to carry smaller riders up to 125lbs on the back or large gear to the beach. This long and heavy electric bike comes in one size fits most. Two can ride this bike with a maximum weight of 350 lbs. The most confident rider should go in front as the length and weight of this bike make it a little tougher to ride. This is a terrific option for anyone that wants to haul another rider with it’s throttle and pedal assist making it a breeze. We’ve added seat pads on the back bench as well as a small cage to help ensure the safe travel of your young ones. Baby Seats install easily to this model. Helpful hint: When beginning from a stop it’s easiest to begin with the throttle on this ebike for stability and then transition to pedal assist once moving.

We can deliver long term electric bike rentals in San Diego from North County to South County.

What’s included in my electric bike rental?
With your San Diego electric bike rental, we will provide you with a helmet, bike, and lock. We also have maps of the city and some of our favorite routes available upon request. If you would like recommendations on where to ride your electric bike rentals in Solana Beach the city hosts an array of natural landmarks, unique shops, and culinary gems which we can direct you towards. If you’d prefer the stressless option of a tour we offer those as well. Our electric bike tour we rides through beautiful coastline highlighted with interesting facts about the area and showcasing some great scenery.
If you are unable to swing by our bike shop conveniently located on the CA 101 we can offer delivery of our bikes. The minimum order required for us to deliver and pick up electric bikes is $200 for overnight rentals. If your order does not meet that minimum then the difference between your rental total and $200 can be added to your booking as a delivery fee. What’s the bike rental process?
Browse from our selection of electric bikes and reserve online or give us a call. Our bikes are listed with a short description and recommended rider height for each bike. When you find the bike you want to reserve, click “book my rental”. Select the dates and time you would like to reserve your San Diego electric bike rental. The next screen will allow you to choose your exact bike and any addons you’d like. When finished you will receive an email confirmation with directions to our shop and we will have your rental waiting for you when you arrive. Yes, We rent Thule baby seats and they are $10 per day. These seats fit best on the Rad Runner, Rad City, and Rad Wagon. To add a baby seat on the checkout screen after you choose your bike at the bottom of the same screen you’ll see an option to + a baby seat to it.
Yes, there is a 1.5 mile trail that covers the entire length of Solana Beach. Our shop is in the middle of it. It’s part of a longer 44 mile rails to trails bike path that goes through parts of Oceanside to San Diego. Because the ride is broken up there is some road riding in bike lanes.
We’ve seen the bikes range from 15 miles to 50 miles depending on the model and the rider's usage. Think of it as most of these bikes can go out for 3 hours of solid riding. If you’re running errands or stopping you can go all day. The bike specs will obviously have something to do with your range but how you ride it can also lengthen the range dramatically . Throttle usage limits your range so those heavy on the throttle will have a shorter range. If you’re renting an electric bike because you want to ride a long distance, then stay in the lower number pedal assist modes to maximize range. If you’re only riding for 2 or 3 hours in most cases you can ride in the high pedal assist modes with no worries of draining the battery. Most Mid-drive models tend to have a higher range per charge, some even claiming 70 to 80 miles of range.
There is no true age limit for the ebikes that we carry, however each rider must be 5'0" and taller and comfortably operate the brakes and gears. Additionally, all riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Best of Both Worlds: Throttle & Pedal-Assist
Our Rad Power Ebikes give you the option to cruise with the full-power of a throttle or with help from pedal-assist. Using the throttle will provide the most torque and acceleration with no effort involved; similar to how motorcycles work. However, exclusively using the throttle is bad for the bike's battery, motor, and overall health. Not to mention it will greatly decrease the bike's range on a single charge. The throttle is best utilized when starting the heavy bikes from a stop or for when your legs need a break from pedaling. When using the pedal assist options it feels as easy as pedaling downhill.
For ebike renters seeking an enhanced yet organic biking experience the ideal e-bike mode is pedal-assist. This option comes standard on both our Rad Power bikes and our Electra Townie Go’s. Pedal-assist technology allows for the rider to select a setting with one press of a button and the motor will activate when pedaling begins! Our electric bikes are programmed with 5 levels of pedal-assist so that you can customize the amount of effort you put in and the amount of energy the motor and battery use. You'll soon come to realize that using pedal-assist will bring you up to the same speed as the throttle would. Although with pedal-assist your battery range greatly increases and the health of the bike's components remain stronger for longer periods of time.
