One of the most engaging bike shops in Santa Barbara would be Bici Centro. This community bike shop that provides an alternative option for fixing a bike rather than paying retail pricing. It is for everyone but, specifically serves those who use a bike as their primary transportation.  When you visit during Open Shop hours, you will be greeted by a staff member or volunteer. All the bikes you can purchase are donated. Even though the bikes are all donations, they still have a large variety of bikes including high end road and mountain bikes that get donated on occasion. You are able to make an appointment to get your bike repaired with the help of a staff member or volunteer for just $10/hour. Walk-ins are welcome if there is availability. You can also purchase bike parts that you might need for fixing your bike, both new and used. This shop is open Tuesday-Saturday and is located on 434 Olive Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
